It has been wonderful to see our young people back in school for a week full of exciting learning activities. We are very proud of how amazing all our young people have been across the week. They have worked hard and have shown us how remarkable they are, coming back with a smile on their face and full of energy, we couldn’t be prouder.
We cannot wait until next week when the young people who joined us in January will be in school for full days and I know that they are all very excited, assembly today was just brilliant! There was so much praise and encouragement for one another which was just a fantastic end to a very busy week!
Class Base 1:
This week, we have had lots of fun! We have been looking at our own shadows using torches. We have also spent some time looking at the different shapes which can create shadows. It was fun to explore the different shadows that objects make. We made predictions about whether objects such as mirrors, would reflect the torch light.
Class Bases 2 Blue, 2 Green and 3:
This week our young people have been learning about the different phases of the moon, we had lots of fun creating solar systems. We have been working together to build friendships, spending time playing with our friends and sharing different interests. We've also been exploring the difference between healthy and unhealthy food choices and have made our own healthy quiche.
Class Base 4, 5 and 6:
This week we have spent time learning about the history of chocolate and have begun to explore the Ancient Mayan civilisation. We have experimented with making different bread by adding different ingredients using chocolate, marshmallows and honey.
Class Base 7, 8, 9 & 10:
This week in upper school, we have continued to find out more about our topic ‘Frozen Kingdom’. Young people have found out more about how and what glaciers form, the magnetic poles and the climate and condition in both the Arctic and Antarctica.
Some of the young people went along to explore the nature reserve at Austerfield learning centre. They made bird feeders and worked in collaboration to find the best places to hang them.
In Science this week, students have made electrical circuits and explored the effects of resistance on the flow of the electrical current.
In English, they have continued to write their own gothic novels, including pathetic fallacy, which involves writing about the mood when describing the scene of the story!
We are so pleased to have had five nominations for those interested in becoming a Parent Governor at Bader Academy. It is so very positive to have so much support from all of our families and we would like to thank those who have put themselves forward for the role. Details of the election have been given to all families via email and ClassDojo.
