We hope that you all had a lovely half term. It has been wonderful to welcome our young people back and they have had an amazing week. As it is the beginning of a new half term, curriculum overviews will be posted on your child’s class story in the coming week, so please look out for these which will give an overview of what pupils are learning.
We have a very busy half term planned, as always! This half term there will be parent / carer consultations as there were in the Autumn Term. These meetings are set to discuss your child’s progress with their class teacher and spend some time in their classroom, seeing all of their amazing work and progress over the year so far. Class teachers will be contacting you directly to book this in to ensure they are set at a time which is convenient for you.
Just a quick reminder, school is closed to pupils on Monday 28th February and will re-open on Tuesday 1st March. We look forward to another amazing week next week.
Over the previous half term the pupils have enjoyed visiting Austerfield and this term the visits will continue. Pupils attending from lower school will receive a letter next week outlining when they will go and a summary of the activities on offer.
This term, community visits will continue to be planned in order to develop pupil’s independence and support our curriculum offer. Please keep an eye out for these opportunities as they arise.
Representatives from Doncaster Arts are continuing to support group work in both lower and upper school this term. The project in lower school will involve creating pieces of digital music to enhance video footage. We look forward to sharing our creations with you.
Lower School pupils have now completed their sessions with Caged Steel and we are currently in the process of arranging the graduation from the programme for those who participated. Further information about this will follow.
Many pupils in upper school have now enrolled in the Youth Enterprise Project where they will participate in project work in relation to eco schools. We will plan, design, market and sell products that benefit the environment.
We will be continuing to offer enrichment opportunities at Austerfield Study Centre this half term. Some young people have already attended and are looking forward to some additional experiences, this week they were able to handle different reptiles!
Doncaster Arts are working with pupils to continue the transition project, empowering our young people to make independent choices about their future careers and life after Bader.
Caged Steel, a martial arts company will be with us this half term, to help our pupils develop essential skills such as communication, teamwork, leadership and to support with self-regulation. All upper school pupils will be given the opportunity to participate in this exciting opportunity.
World Book Day
Thursday 3rd March is World Book Day 2022 and here at Bader we will be celebrating this year’s theme; ‘You are a Reader!’. Throughout the day, Class Bases will be taking part in different book themed activities. In the afternoon a film based on a book will be played in the Hall, where pupils will have a movie experience, hot chocolate will be available too.
On World Book Day, pupils are invited to wear their pyjamas to school or attend school wearing non-uniform if they wish. We cannot wait to see you and share our love of reading!
As you know, before the half term break we were very fortunate to have five parents put themselves forward for the role of Parent Governor. We are very pleased to inform you that the two positions have been filled. We thank all parents for taking the time to vote, the votes have been verified by a member of the school Senior Leadership team and a member of the Nexus Central Trust Team.
We are pleased to inform you that our Parent Governors are Leanne Bradley and Scott Spence-Hill.
Parent Teacher Association (PTA) / Friends of Bader
We are extremely fortunate as a school to have so many families who wish to support the school. We have been asked by a number of parents about how further support can be given and around the development of a parent group to support the school. With this in mind we are looking at setting up a PTA / Friends of Bader group, in order to support the work of the school, run fundraising events and develop a fantastic new parent group.
We would like to invite any parents / carers who may be interested in joining this group into school for an initial meeting to discuss further on Friday 18th March 10-11:30am. If you are interested in becoming part of a new parent group but this time is not suitable for you, please do contact the school office, let them know you are interested and the times which work better for future meetings and we will try to accommodate where possible for subsequent meetings.
