Letter to Families - 05/11/2021

Dear Families,

It has been amazing to welcome our young people back after the half term break. We have had a very busy first week back and it has been great to see everyone settle back into their classroom routines and enjoy Parliament Week.

We know that all families will be eager to know what their child will be learning in school this half term. An overview of your child’s learning and what they will be covering up to Christmas will be posted on ClassDojo. Please look out for this on your child’s class story next week! If you would prefer a paper copy, please do let us know and we will send one home with your child across next week.

Pupil Parliament Week

This week pupils have been learning about Parliament and participating in lots of activities celebrating Democracy. Each base has heard manifestos from potential Members of Parliament (MPs) and voted for a class MP. Following some thoughtful speeches, campaigns and a fair election processes, we are proud to announce that we have set up a Bader Pupil Parliament. The elected MPs enjoyed having a cup of tea, scones, jam and clotted cream to meet for the first time today. During their first meeting the MPs discussed future plans, shared manifestos and created an action plan.

Bader Pupil Parliament promotes pupil leadership opportunities, enabling children to develop valuable communication, organisation and debating skills through key roles of responsibility and new experiences. Pupil Parliament benefits the whole school, pupils and teachers because it provides opportunities for pupils to communicate their opinions as well as influence the decisions that are made on their behalf. Pupils relish the opportunity to become a greater part of school life and enjoy making their voices heard.

Please meet our Bader MPs:

Holiday Request Forms

Leave of Absence Form

We have seen an increase in school in the number of families taking holidays during school time. We know that there are times, where exceptional circumstances mean that this is necessary for families. Could we please ask that if you intend on your child missing school due to holidays that a holiday request form is completed and sent into school with as much notice as possible. This form is available on the school website, under the parent section or can be requested from the school office.

Home to School Transport

If your child accesses home to school transport, please see the attached letter. This is an invitation to a pre-consultation session regarding the home to school transport policy.
