It has been another fantastic week in school. We continue to be amazed by all of our young people’s achievements. There has been lots of work in classrooms during the preparation for Macmillan coffee morning this week. We have had an enormous amount of excitement as we prepared for our first whole school event!
We hope that you are finding all of the updates on Class Dojo informative. I know all young people are loving using their portfolios to showcase their achievements both in school and at home. It is a pleasure to see them all. Thank you to all families who have completed the Microsoft form to share wishes about photograph permissions. If you have not had the chance to complete this yet please use the link provided https://forms.office.com/r/rBwxnHFXG0
Enrichment Activities Upper School
Some of our young people have taken part in the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust sensory outdoor space project where we have been learning about using tools and keeping ourselves safe. We have started to dig the foundation for our sensory path. It was great to see the hard work and effort that went into this project. All the young people worked hard together, showing amazing team work.
Others have been taking part in our Doncaster Arts project where they have been exploring sounds and feelings through music. They have all enjoyed using the DJ equipment and learning how to explore sounds and what music can tell us about ourselves.
These projects will continue throughout the term, with external organisations supporting our young people with their learning beyond the classroom.
We are so proud of how they have embraced these new challenges and cannot wait to see what else they achieve.
Enrichment Activities Lower School
Caged Steel Martial Arts have been in lower school this week showing some of our young people the value of listening and why this is important to us all as individuals. Our young people really enjoyed the session, it was great to see so many of them joining in and in showing that important listening skill to be able to follow instructions.
Caged Steel will be working in school every week with some of our young people, building up a range of other important skills for example showing attention, being respectful, developing confidence in ourselves and showing dedication to what we set out to achieve. This is a great opportunity for our young people to extend their learning out of the classroom, whilst getting fit and healthy and having fun.
We have been notified that COVID-19 vaccinations will be happening in school on Monday 8th November for those pupils who are eligible. The criteria is that vaccinations will be offered to pupils who are 12 on or before 8th November.
If your child is eligible, there will be a letter and consent form coming home from school with them on Monday 4th October, please be sure to take the time to complete this and return as soon as possible should you wish for your child to receive their vaccination.
