Family Letter - w/e 09 June 2023

Family letter from Viki Drew, Headteacher for week ending 9th June 2023.

Dear Families,

It was lovely to welcome young people back to school for our final half term of this academic year. They have all come back refreshed and recharged! We have an exciting few weeks ahead with planned visits and celebration days within school, and of course, not to forget our all-important Active Day and Pride Festival!

This half term our big question is ‘Am I ready for my next steps?’ and our changemaker focus is ‘future’. Pupils spent some time on Tuesday morning focusing on what the term future may mean to them and what they want to achieve. They discussed within their class / form base what the big question means and what they would like to learn across the half term. Curriculum overviews will be uploaded to Class Dojo next week so please look out for these!

Just a quick reminder, with the hot weather and the forecast looking like this will continue, could I please remind about adequate protection for young people. Please could you send your child with sun cream – labelled with their name and staff can support them to apply the cream within school. Could we also ask that a sunhat is provided for when pupils are accessing outdoor learning and playtime. Finally, if your child could bring a water bottle to ensure they remain hydrated throughout the day, please note, no metal water bottles are permitted

Welcome - Ryan Taff, Deputy Headteacher

This week we have welcomed Ryan Taff to the Bader family. Ryan is Deputy Headteacher and will work as part of the leadership team, I am sure you will all join me in welcoming him. Please see below for a few words from Ryan.

Hi everyone,

My name is Ryan, from Sheffield. I have been working in education for more than 10 years, most recently as an Assistant Headteacher near Leeds. I specialise in PE and have a passion for being active.

I love sports and games and spend lots of time exercising and going to the gym. I walk my little French bulldog (Roscoe) every day and really enjoy going to the cinema!

I really enjoy being at school and I am looking forward to working with everyone at Bader.

Sponsor Forms and Tombola Donations

On Thursday 20th July, we will be hosting our Pride Festival and Summer Fayre. Thank you to those who have already returned your sponsorship forms and monies for our obstacle confetti run! The support from families has been amazing. If you have not yet returned yours don’t panic, all sponsor forms and monies should be returned by Friday 14th July so there is still plenty of time! As we have stated before, please do not worry if you are not able to participate, we do understand the cost of living crisis is impacting on families.

We are still looking for donations for a tombola stand for the event, if you have any donations you are willing to donate to school we would be most grateful, any donations of toiletries, sweets, chocolates or general items would be very welcome and well received to support the fayre and running of the tombola. If these can be sent into school anytime from now until the 14th July we would really appreciate your support.

Duke of Edinburgh

Well our pupils completing their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award have completed their expedition! They have done an amazing job and Charlotte, Craig and Cieron who supported them shared just how amazing they had done! We are very proud of our 6 Year 9s – Lottie, Lucas, Finlay, Leo, Daniel and Kye who have just been phenomenal.

The assessed expedition included a walk from Norton to Burghwallis. Pupils then had to set up camp, erect their tents, prepare camp, cook their tea and wash up (much more I am sure than they usually do at home!) The following day they then had to pack camp up and they walked from Burghwallis to Adwick. There were some very tired faces when they returned to school on Friday afternoon! Well done to all young people we are so very proud of you!
